Seasonal Produce – Spring Radish

Raddishes

Picked some radishes today, sown at the end of last year.

There’s something very satisfying in sowing the seeds, watching them grow, then harvesting and tasting the result.

Having started out on a vegan path initially for environmental reasons, it doesn’t end there. I find that I am thinking more about the environmental impact of the food I am eating.

Supermarket shelves are stocked with fresh products the whole year round. But if I choose the out of season beans that have been flown in from central Africa then I am defeating the object of being a vegan.

A web page such as Seasonal UK grown produce [1] can help to discover what is in season. Glad to see radishes mentioned in April and continuing through the year
